All of us here at the First Christian Church of New Salem want everyone who comes into this church to feel welcome and to have a wonderful experience worshiping our Lord and Savior.

The number one priority of our Safety Team is to keep our children as safe as possible while attending services and other events. A safety program has been implemented here to and help make your child’s learning experience and your worship experience better by any worry you may nave about your child’s safety or your own while you are here.

Here are some of the highlight regarding our safety program:

• Our safety team uses a bracelet numbering system for checking our children in. There are two of every bracelet number – one for the child and one for the parent. Once the child enters the classroom, the only way to check them out is to give the teacher the corresponding bracelet number that you have. If the parent’s bracelet is not given to the teacher, the child is not allowed to leave the classroom. This helps to ensure that nobody can pick your child up that shouldn’t. You are permitted to give your bracelet to someone else that you trust to pick your child up.
• A parent must drop off child at check-in station. The child cannot check themselves in. Once checked in, it is your responsibility to escort the child to class.
• Please notify a Safety Team member if your child has a known allergy. We ask for this information because we hand out snacks during class.
• Please notify a safety team member if there is anyone who is not permitted to pick your child up.
• After worship service, please be prompt when picking up your child. You must show the teacher your bracelet to check the child out. No child will be checked out without the bracelet. Once your child is checked out, it is your responsibility to keep an eye on them.
• Due to distractions with the classrooms and for the safety of each child, parents and guardians are not permitted to enter the classrooms. This allows us to ensure that every person who enters the classroom has up-to-date child clearances on file.
• If you would like see your child, you can take them out of the classroom by showing the teacher the corresponding bracelet. We have a feeding / cry room for your convenience. This is the last door on the left before you enter the sanctuary (room 103).
• In the rare event of a fire, our teachers and Safety Team members will get your child to a safe location outside of the building. Please refrain from attempting to get your child out of the class as this may cause confusion and chaos. Once the children are outside and the teacher has taken attendance to make sure all children are accounted for. You may show the teacher the corresponding bracelet and take your child.
